Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) rescue and adoption organization. Founder and Director Kathleen Cline has always had a passion for helping animals in need. She began helping cats several years ago by volunteering. Devastated and saddened by the vast differences in the care of the animals at the local shelters and one horribly ran rescue group, she decided to embark on a crucial need, thus creating “Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats." Because of her strong desire and with the help of her daughter Tanessa, Dr. T. Humphrey, DVM, and many marvelous volunteers, thousands of lives have been helped since inception November 2005. We provide excellent care and love to all the kitties received. The adoption center is cage-free which helps the kitties’ overall physical and mental health. The cats in our care are primarily strays and frequently have been injured or abused. We give them tender loving care along with any additional medical treatment necessary. We spend an average of $300 on every kitty that enters the adoption center. Every cat that finds its way to Almost Home Adoptions is spayed or neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, vaccinated, and dewormed prior to finding a forever home. Without our group of dedicated volunteers Almost Home Adoptions would not exist.

Jean Ausenbaugh had been a volunteer in a local shelter for five years. As a dedicated foster she has done everything in her power to save as many animals as possible. On September 17, 2003, she bought a restaurant on Youngfield that had been empty for a couple of years. It was “discovered” by Val Papenfus, a former employee at the local shelter. It took until February 7, 2004 for the renovation to be done. In the short time since the opening of Angels With Paws, Jean and a group of volunteers who helped during the renovation and since have saved over 8,000 cats and kittens. We continue to work toward that goal, saving lives one life at a time and towards building a sanctuary where dogs may be included in this life-saving process. Angels With Paws is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer organization, which believes ALL animals have the right to life. We operate a mainly cage-free friendly environment providing medical and rehabilitation services when needed. We are part of a network of caring people that reaches far and wide and will work with local organizations in the metro Denver area to reduce pet overpopulation by promoting the necessity to spay and neuter. We will also emphasize the cruelty of declawing. The Angels With Paws adoption center is only the beginning of our vision. We are striving to build a sanctuary in Colorado that will provide a safe and happy life for animals in need as well as an onsite veterinary clinic and nursery. This will be the initial holding and launching center until space is available for animals at Angels With Paws. This will also provide a long term care solution for animals in need or that are not adopted (to include feral, Felv/Fiv, and senior animals). Our dream is to see the day when no adoptable animal will be euthanized.
